Notice

Law students are subject to all rules, regulations, and policies of Brigham Young University as outlined in the BYU Undergraduate Catalog and the current class schedule. Students are charged with the responsibility to know the information regarding tuition and fees contained in these university-wide publications, which are available in the main reception area (the Fish Bowl) for checkout and review. See BYU Undergraduate Catalog.

Tuition and Fees

The tuition at BYU Law School is among the lowest in the nation because more than 50 percent of the cost of operating the Law School is paid from the tithing contributions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All students benefit greatly from this support, and students and the families of students who are tithe-paying members of the Church have already made a significant contribution to the operation of the university. Therefore, they are charged a reduced tuition amount. This difference is comparable to the lower tuition law schools of state universities charge residents of the state compared to nonresidents. The required amounts are as follows:

Tuition for the 2009-10 Academic Year:
$9,980 LDS tuition ($4,990 per semester)
$19,960 Non-LDS tuition ($9,980 per semester)

Tuition is due August 25, 2009 for Fall Semester.
For more information regarding tuition please check here.

Other fees: (estimates only)
Books and supplies $1,760
Room and board off campus $6,460
Personal Expenses $2,064
Transportation $1,824

Please check with the BYU Financial Aid Office or consult the current class catalog for the most up to date information.

The tuition and general fees paid by a full-time student entitle him or her to student activity privileges, physical education facility privileges, and university health services if enrolled in the BYU student Health Insurance Plan, at a modest cost. The university reserves the right to change tuition and fees at any time without notice.

Refunds

In the event of withdrawal by a student, a refund will be made on the basis of a per-day charge of 3 percent of the total tuition and fees paid or payable for the semester, plus $10 ($5 for a part-time student), even though the student does not complete registration or attend school. Charges will be made for each day, beginning with the first day of the semester in which classes are held and continuing to the day on which the student reports withdrawal to the dean of the Law School, both days inclusive.

Late fees are not refundable.

No refund will be granted to a student who is requested to withdraw for deficient academics or other cause. For further information on the university's refund procedure, see the current BYU Undergraduate Catalog.
