Faculty Judicial Clerkship Committee

The Clerkship Committee is composed of faculty members and Career Services Office personnel who have a strong interest in promoting judicial clerkship applications by BYU law students.

The Committee serves as a resource for students wishing to pursue judicial clerkships by providing information about the nature, importance, and value of the clerkship experience.

Additionally, Committee members can advise students on the range and variety of clerkship opportunities available at both the federal and state levels, as well as provide information on the timing and requirements for the applications.

The initial responsibility for preparing and submitting application materials and arranging for supporting letters of recommendation from faculty members rests with the students.

However, the Committee compiles information regarding student clerkship interests and the judges to whom they have applied. Committee members are available to consult with students about their interests in potential clerkships, provide information regarding application requirements and strategies, and to identify clerkships for which a student is most qualified and, therefore, is most likely to be hired.

The Committee helps to coordinate multiple student applications and solicits recommendations that the Committee believes may assist the student in obtaining a clerkship in particular courts.

All students interested in applying for a judicial clerkship are invited to attend a series of meetings scheduled by the Committee for the early part of Fall semester.
