Law School Boot Camp

The Pre Law Student Association held their annual Law Conference Saturday, Jan. 21 in the Garden Court and Ballroom of the Wilkinson Center on BYU’s main campus.  The conference was set up as a law school “boot camp” and was geared towards preparing students for success.

The keynote speaker for the event was Professor James Gordon of the J. Reuben Clark Law School.  Professor Gordon spoke to prospective students about practices that would help them succeed in law school.  He also spoke on the role of lawyers and the rule of law: “You can bless others through your legal education.”

Students also participated in short classes that armed them with practical skills such as how to brief cases, how to succeed on the LSAT and how to present themselves well online.  Professor Brigham Daniels of the BYU Law School was in attendance, and taught a short class on succeeding in law school courses.  A board of law students from the J. Reuben Clark Law School and the Utah Law School also participated and spoke on co-curricular activities.  The morning’s events closed with a presentation on financing law school by Paul Conrad of BYU Financial Services.
