Clerkship: Jeff Miles

This year Jeff Miles (3L) will be completing a clerkship for Judge Ted Stewart in the United States District Court for the District of Utah. On looking forward to the clerkship Miles said, "I think the clerkship is such a valuable opportunity; it will give me the chance to see a lot of cases and make a more informed decision about the type of career I would like to have."

"During the spring of my 2L year I spoke to several faculty members and former BYU students who had done clerkships," Miles said about the decision to apply for a clerkship. "They all highly recommended doing a judicial clerkship. Often, the former clerk I talked to would say that the judicial clerkship was the best experience of his career. I felt that a judicial clerkship would give me an opportunity to continue my legal education and get practical experience while being mentored by some of the country’s finest legal minds."

Miles feels like the clerkship will open a lot of doors for future careers and provide more direction as he begins to make post-graduation plans.
