Dennis Sears receives distinguished service award
The American Association of Law Libraries has awarded Dennis Sears the Daniel L. Wade Outstanding Service Award. Professor Sears has served as the co-chair of the AALL's education committee for the past 14 years.
Out of more than 400 AALL participants, only two individuals received the Outstanding Service Award this year. Requirements for this award include leadership in meetings and committee work, participation in special projects, participation in encouraging mentoring activities and encouraging others to join the AALL section.
The AALL sponsors an annual meeting for librarians from all over the world to learn and share information and research. As a part of the education committee for this meeting, Sears worked with the Foreign, Comparative, and International Law (FCIL) - Special Interest Section (SIS) to find international presenters for the meeting.
As a part of the education committee, Sears has had the opportunity to work with distinguished members of the law librarian community and further the work of international and foreign law throughout the world.
“I enjoy working with education because it’s key to what our members need,” Sears said.
Sears plans to continue his work as chair of the FCIL-SIS committee and increase his 14 year streak as long as possible.
