Why Join:

Family law touches everyone's lives and is frequently a source of political controversy. Family law involves divorce, child support, custody, visitation, parental rights, alimony, marriage, adoption, bankruptcy, tax law and criminal law. The FLS helps students prepare to be better lawyers and members of the community. The Society works closely with faculty and other scholars to better educate students and provide service opportunities.

Fast Facts:1

  1. Family law is the single largest area of law practiced in America.
  2. Over half of all lawyers report dealing with family law issues every year.
  3. Family Law is the 'bread-and-butter' practice of most small and medium sized law firms and solo practitioners.
  4. Professionally done, the practice of family law involves professional service in the highest and most demanding sense.
