NOTICE AND CALL FOR PAPERS:

A Symposium on "Children's Rights and Adoption" is scheduled to convene on Friday, March 2, 2007, at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. The topic is intended to be broad, to allow prospective presenters to develop a topic relating to adoption law that they are interested in, perhaps working on already. Presentations already scheduled to be included will address proposed revisions to the ICPC, the new US rules regulating International Adoption, and narratives about children's concerns about lesbigay adoption.

Law school and related faculty and professional are invited to attend and to propose papers for presentation. The nominal registration costs ($50 - to cover food, snacks, materials, etc.) will be waived for persons selected to present their papers. Persons interested in presenting should send a one-page abstract containing their name, institutional identification, contact information, a "working title" and a 1-or-2 paragraph description of the paper they propose to present.

Proposals should be sent to Professor Lynn D. Wardle, BYU Law School, via email at lynn_wardle@byu.edu before November 30, 2006. The symposium papers should range from approximately 10,000 - 20,000 words in length, drafts must be submitted electronically at least 3 days before the symposium for website posting, and final versions of the papers must be submitted for publication four weeks after the symposium. We expect to arrange for publication of the timely-submitted papers in a law journal mini-symposium issue.
