Symposium on The Future of Rights of Conscience in Health Care: Legal and Ethical Perspectives

We are pleased to announce and invite all interested persons to attend a "Symposium on The Future of Rights of Conscience in Health Care: Legal and Ethical Perspectives," that will convene at Brigham Young University on Friday, February 26, 2010. The symposium is being co-sponsored by the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, by the Ave Maria School of Law, and by University Faculty for Life.

The purpose of this symposium is to consider rights of conscience in health care. We hope that conference papers will explore the current situation on this highly contested issue and also offer reflections on how this issue ought to be addressed. We anticipate that conference speakers will explore this issue from a variety of perspectives-legal, philosophical, historical, and moral. We hope to include papers from a variety of academic disciplines and we anticipate that the papers will range from the theoretical to the practical.

About a dozen outstanding experts in biomedical ethics and law, from a variety of disciplines (law, medicine, philosophy, humanities) are being invited to prepare papers for presentation at this symposium.

Papers presented at this symposium will be published in a symposium issue of the Ave Maria Law Review. For further information contact Lorelie Sander at sanderl@law.byu.edu or tel. 801-422-2079.
